Official table in force from 20 Apr 2025

Pakistan Railways changed fares after this table was published: news reports in March 2026 described an increase of about 5% in economy and 10% in AC classes, and later reports said the government froze further rises. We have not found an updated official table, so the fares here can be lower than what you will pay. RABTA shows the current fare. Sources for the change: Dawn, Profit.

The groups in the official table

Each heading is copied from the PDF. A train named in a heading uses that heading’s fares.

Questions

How are Pakistan Railways fares calculated?

By distance band, class and train group. The official “Passenger Fare Table at a Glance” (in force from 20 Apr 2025) lists a fare for each band (1–20 km, 21–30 km and so on up to 2,500 km) and each class. Short trips pay at least the 1–20 km fare.

Which classes do Pakistan trains have?

Pakistan Railways lists five classes: AC Sleeper (ACSL), AC Parlour Car (PC), AC Business (ACLZ), AC Standard (ACL) and Economy (EC). Not every train has every class.

How much is a 500 km train ticket in economy?

In the official table, a 496–500 km trip in Economy on Khyber Mail, Millat, Awam and the other trains in that group is Rs 1,650; in AC Standard it is Rs 2,750. Fares were changed after this table, so confirm on RABTA.

Is there a discount for booking early?

Yes. The fare table says a 5% lower fare applies when you reserve more than 48 hours before the train departs, on all trains.

Do children pay full fare?

No. Children from 3 to under 10 years pay half fare (not less than the minimum fare), according to the fare table’s instructions.
